Stockport County: Match Reaction

  Un-be-lievable! What a victory against the title favourites, beating them in their own backyard on the opening day of the season - convincingly! To a man the team was simply incredible, after falling behind early on, Rooney celebrating in front of Daggers supporters clearly only fuelled McMahon's men further.  Will Wright coming up with the goods from a set-piece, followed by a dominant second-half display in which Robinson and Walker netted, oh - it was a proud day to be a dagger! MY TAKE After being starved of away days for over 530 days, away supporters were served the joys of travelling the breadth of the country to back their teams once again – us Daggers were no exception. As you can see above, the fans were overjoyed to be back and it was the away section who were singing loudest as the first whistle sounded – the teams inseparable on the pitch however in the first knockings. 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲

  The new season: here at last!   Away days have returned; hopefully too will the good times to Victoria Road - expectations high for McMahon’s men.  Up first is a side who themselves are tipped for a great shot at promotion as Stockport host the Daggers at Edgeley Park.  I’ll preview the clash along with Stockport fan Nick from The Scarf Bergara Wore, Stockport County Podcast (@CountyPodcast) - from all angles.  My take  The Daggers go into this one with expectation, but as Daryl McMahon said, still very much as ‘the underdogs’. With an opening day clash there is that desperation and pressure to get off to a good start; the performance setting the tone for the rest of the season. However, there is also that excitement and buzz I’m sure everyone is feeling reading this now - to see the team back in action - fingers crossed they put on a display reminiscent of the back end of last season.  This task has hopefully been made easier by the business done this summer; the focus on retaining
