A competent and workmanlike performance from Dagenham & Redbridge as they soared past King's Lynn Town with a comfortable 3-0 victory. The sun was shining down as McMahon’s men made it three consecutive wins with Paul McCallum, Angelo Balanta and Matt Robinson all on the scoresheet.
I mean, they weren't the strongest of opponents, but we can only beat what is in front of us and that's what the Daggers did. It was a strange game, with Dagenham on top for most of it, but there were few highlights other than those three goals.
However, when they did come, the goals were delightful; the pick of the lot being Angelo Balanta's incredible half-volley strike. Will Wright also played his part in the opener with a lovely ball into the box to Paul McCallum who is, to the relief and joy of supporters, now hitting some sort of form!
The second goal-scorer was also a contender for MOTM, just missing out, (but we'll get to that later) as he got onto the scoresheet again - a hell of a season the midfielder is having!
Before we get to the MOTM result, we'll move to the Player Ratings which are all above average, testament to the great team performance:
As aforementioned, and now you can see for yourself, these ratings are all above average - reflecting that dominant display on Saturday. The highest ratings being McCallum (7.9) who again got on the scoresheet, offering further hope that he can revive his form in a Dagenham shirt which has been missing for much of the season.
Then, Angelo Balanta (8.1) my MOTM, who yet again displayed his class with another wonder-goal - leaving him level-pegging with McCallum on 9 goals this season. The Colombian is a magical, creative player and one we're very fortunate to have - as the supporters I know very much appreciate!
Another fans' favourite scoring highly and gaining the highest average rating was Matt Robinson (8.3) who again proved the talisman in the 0-3 win. His drives out of midfield into the final third were a joy to behold and he has been likened to Frank Lampard this week with his late runs into the box - adding goals to his tally.
As I say, my MOTM was Angelo Balanta and you seemed to agree with him receiving 41.7% of the vote; Matt Robinson narrowly trailing in second place:
Well, three wins in a row, I won't speak of the top 7 - but, we're in fine form - too late in the day for me. But, there we have it, and we have a Fans' Forum on Thursday (Get your questions in!) so we're heading in the right direction it seems.
Hopefully, we don't let Barnet complete the double over us at The Hive on Saturday; especially after the season they've had!
Until then, Stay Safe, and as ever thank you for getting involved with the Player Ratings,
