DAGENHAM AND JOHN
FULL NAME: John Dobinson
My favourite player currently is Elliot Justham, Player of the year last season and deservedly so - quality Keeper!
I am a season ticket holder in the Carling Stand and have been a supporter at Victoria Road since the 1969/70 - so for around 50 years!
It was 50 years ago, my earliest memory at the club and it was an Amateur Cup semi-final at a great ground. That ground wasn’t Victoria Road though, but Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham football club.
From the earliest game to my favourite and there are a few - all signalling great success for the club. Firstly, the FA Trophy final at Wembley in 1980 and one that we came out on top in - beating Mossley 1-0!
Secondly, also my favourite away day, it is Woking in 1994 where we came away with three points but also a +7 goal difference! Still the club’s biggest win and it was against Woking - always nice to get one over on the Cards - especially in their own backyard.
Thirdly, THAT League Two play-off final where we beat Rotherham 3-2. Obviously a glorious day for the club at Wembley that took us to new heights! A day we’ll always cherish.
Another great day for the club was my favourite Christmas game and it was last Christmas against Orient. It was a great and rare Christmas victory which displayed great determination. Staying on the Christmas theme and my favourite Christmas song is ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ by Slade.
In teens of my relationship with the club, it hasn’t really changed over the years - still the same old Dagenham!
Though someone who has brought great success over the years is John Still and he is my favourite Daggers manager - obviously in charge at Wembley in 2010. My favourite player of all time was also a great leader and true captain - that man is Denis Moore - a real Daggers legend!
That’s why he make the all-time XI along with some other fantastic players:
