Home V Bromley

Saturday 26th August
Home V Bromley - National League

Bromley got their sixth game of the season underway which saw a quick start from both sides. There was an early penalty appeal at Victoria Road however Cheek was told to play on; despite the quick start from both sides the hosts seemed to be settling into the match the quickest. Daggers continued to attack and mount the pressure with minimal breaks from Bromley. Until the 15th minute where Michael Cheek’s endeavour to win the ball was rewarded by a stunning goal, one on one with the keeper Cheek comfortably hit it into the roof of the net; 1-0 Daggers!

Still no real threat from the visitors and that was beginning to show through frustration as Chorley was persistently fouling Ferrier to break down the Daggers attack escaping a yellow card however.

Midway through the half, due to a lack of urgency from the home side’s defence, Wanadio’s bullet of an effort nestled into the bottom corner; Bromley equalise! But the mighty Daggers came back with a quick response as just three minutes after Bromley’s equaliser Sam Ling’s cross was met by the head of fan favourite Michael Cheek; who got his brace with 30 minutes played.

However, Dagenham desperate to hold onto their lead became ill – disciplined in midfield and started to lax slightly in defence subsequently being caught off their guard.

On the stroke of half time summer signings Morgan Ferrier and Kevin Lokko linked up well to give the hosts a two-goal cushion as Lokko scored his first goal for the Daggers. The away changing room wouldn’t be the happiest going into half time with quite frankly a shambles at the back!

Dagenham & Redbridge start very lively with three attempts within two minutes. They nearly made it four with a great effort from Boucad hitting the post and the rebound given offside.

After twenty minutes of dominance from the home side Bromley finally began to creep back into it but Dagenham showed no signs of easing off, as they so often do. Ferrier desperately sought to add his name to the score-sheet however his finishing was woeful.

Bromley didn’t seem to want it enough as they approached the 75-minute mark. Did they think it was all over with fifteen minutes to go? A well worked move saw Jake Howells do a brilliant dummy for Ferrier to slot it home, with Ferrier relieved the Daggers were 4-1 up!

Dagenham now feel they’ve won the game now and so do the fans who are in full voice for a team that is full of confidence. Whitely advancing down the right wing took a shot, or was it? as from the touchline he got it in the top corner. UN-BE-LEIVABLE! That just rubbed salt in the wounds of Bromley players and supporters many of the fans weren’t even there to see that one.

As the final whistle goes Bromley are put out of their misery as they head straight down the tunnel- an embarrassment of a performance! The Daggers are now top on goal difference (which as you can imagine is high) as they continue their unbeaten run.
