MATCH PREVIEW: BROMLEY
After a hectic August which saw The Daggers play eight fixtures in four weeks September is now here and so is Dagenham’s first TV appearance of the season. Peter Taylor’s men will contest in three games at Victoria Road this month; the first of which is today’s game against high flying Bromley. Neil Smith’s men will make the relatively short trip for what looks to be an exciting encounter as both sides made some great signings over the summer - attacking ones at that. The teams have scored 26 goals in total with Bromley getting the majority of them - 15 goals compared to Dagenham’s 11.
The visitors sit third in the table, slipping one place after a 2-2 draw to AFC Fylde. The Coasters have had an unsatisfactory start for their standards and the reported transfer request handed in by star player Danny Rowe hasn’t helped matters. Turning our attention back to tonight’s opponents, The Ravens are the only unbeaten side this season so will be a tough but to crack. However Taylor’s side are wanting no less than all three points after a draw on the road; this form is required to maintain their bid for the playoffs.
The Daggers, as briefly mentioned, earned a hard fought point on the road on Saturday against a struggling Chesterfield. Many saw it as two points lost but some believed it would be seen as a good point come the end of the season. Today, I believe it is a tough ask for Taylor’s men to claim all three points but expectations are that we average a point a half - a win is the only way we can do that. One player I tip to aid his side in securing all three points is Spaniard Joan Luque, he scored last time out earning his side a point as he did against Eastleigh earlier in the season.
Last time these two sides met was at Victoria Road where The Daggers came out 3-0 victors. The goals came from Chike Kandi (who is injured); Angelo Balanta who has made a great start to the season and Conor Wilkinson who is now playing in League 2. Dagenham secured a clean sheet at home to The Ravens - they are yet to secure a clean sheet so far this season.
I am confident for tonight’s encounter as you can see from my score prediction above. I believe The Daggers will break Bromley’s unbeaten record tonight and comfortably; with Luque and Quigley coming up with the goals before The Ravens net a consolation. This may not age well but predictions rarely do so if this comes off I’ll be delighted! 😀
