MATCH PREVIEW: CHESTERFIELD

Today sees The Daggers make the 168 mile round trip to The Proact stadium in the hope of all three points. I am certain Taylor will be eyeing maximum points as he said at the Fans’ Forum he wanted 16 points from August but we are currently on 10 so to get as close as we can we must win.

Taking a look at the opposition, it is certainly not the start John Sheridan and his side would have hoped for as they have picked up just four points from a possible 21. Those four points see them in the bottom four, but the table doesn’t tell the full story as injuries have limited their progress to say the least.

Tom Denton who holds the ball up well up front is out; he can also come up with a goal so that is a frustration for them. Secondly, another attacking option has been forced to watch from the sidelines as young Norwich striker Spyrou was ruled out. Yet to secure a victory this season Sheridan’s side will also be looking to put all three points on the board to go three points behind The Daggers.

Despite the negatives surrounding today’s selection options, the visitors do have Scott Boden at their disposal who netted against Dagenham last time out. The 29- year old has already scored 4 this season and will be keen to make it 5 to round up the month.

My lineup

I liked the team and formation that finished the Yeovil victory therefore stuck to that formation though with a few changes in personnel. The three changes are Eleftheriou and Gordon as full backs and Harry Phipps in to replace Robinson.

I have kept Quigley in the Starting XI after his brace against Yeovil - hoping that goalscoring form will continue. Dobson and Luque brought the game to life when they came on as Taylor reverted to a 4-3-2-1 so to include them - for me was a no brainer.

Second - I would bring in Phipps for Robinson as I feel he is just more effective with his passing and linking the play. Despite him not being the strongest midfielder he is very effective and hard working.

Finally, at the back I would love to see Gordon get the nod and Eleftheriou retain in place in the Starting XI. At left back I feel Croll just doesn’t possess the attacking capabilities required and Gordon is wasted on the bench. On the right, I would play Andrew Eleftheriou as he is great at bombing down the line and though he is not a wing back in this instance - I feel he could link up well with Dobson overlapping the winger.

Last Meeting

Smith netted last time out, and it was early on in the second half to give the Spireites the lead before Boden made it two just three minutes later. The Daggers failed to respond as they fell to a 2-0 defeat in Chesterfield following the quick fire double.

Today, The Daggers will look to put an end end to the habit of conceding straight after the break having done so in the previous two games - just like they did last time they met the Spireites.

Score Prediction

I believe Dagenham will come out victors yet still I reckon they will be without a clean sheet due to issues at the back. However, I believe that this side is more than capable of scoring twice - those goal scorers will be Luque making it three in three for him. Finally, I believe Joe Quigley will score his third in two games as he will be high in confidence after Saturday.
